What is "GDC talks to Text"?
The idea for this blog is to give more people easy access to information that is presented during different GDC talks in a digestible text format instead of a video format. This is because I was able to attend the 2024 GDC event while other people didn't have the same opportunity of attending. So I wanted to find a way to give access to some of the information that is given during GDC to more people. I plan on adding more GDC talks as time passes to allow more people to learn through reading. This comes from the fact that some people prefer to read things instead of listening to talks or watching videos of the subject so by transcribing it then more people can have access to this information.
Who Am I?
My name is Joaquin De Losada, I was born in Maryland to two Peruvian parents and lived around the US for about 7 years before moving to Peru to live closer to family. I currently live in Austin, Texas as I apply for gameplay programming positions while I work on more projects and learn more about the world of game development. The first games I ever made were during high school in Peru where I used some GameMaker tutorials by Tom Francis and the GameMaker documentation. Over the years I have gained a huge passion for game development specifically for working on gameplay mechanics and AI systems in-game. This is something plan on making my general area of expertise and becoming a recognized professional when working in that area.
