Effective talk: Becoming a manager

Common mistakes:
Placing people who are skilled technically into management. Especially when they don't have experience.
Needs time to learn how to become a better manager.
47% of managers quit due to stress in 2023. Needs to rework the system to help relieve the stress.
Causes for management to leave:
An overwhelming amount of work was given. They need to fulfill their old work as well as manage a bunch of people. Even though it lets people to still work on their passion, but can overload their plates with work.
People assume becoming a manager is the next step. But at times, this might not be the case. They are unable to manage people well enough.
Forcing skillful people from their positions might leave the team lacking and needing a lot of time to recuperate.
The amount of extra work that managers are expected to do besides their normal work can cause many of them to start feeling impostor syndrome.
If managers feel inadequate at their jobs or are not trained correctly and leave the job, it can leave the next manager with a lot of chaos they need to fix.
This can create a self-fulfilling prophecy of managers not properly completing their role and leaving the mess to the next person.
Be careful what you normalize as a manager. Some companies might have cultures that slowly become corrupted and when managers leave the company to other companies they can infect their new workplaces.
Becoming a better manager:
Think about how previous managers did their jobs or helped people under them.
Make sure to take care of your self and the people under you. If moral starts going doing it wont let the team produce the best work.
Having poor mental health can influence not only the team's work but also other teams over time.
Make sure to constantly stay in communication with team members, other managers, and keep a genuine relationship.
